ALERT: Beware of false requests for personal information during IT outages

07/19/2024

HITS has received notice from a trusted partner that bad actors have tried to pose as Crowdstrike to collect personal information.

While Michigan Medicine IT teams are working with multiple vendors to restore service, it is important to remember that HITS and other trusted partners will NEVER ask you for your login credentials or other sensitive information as part of the troubleshooting process

Attempts to collect personal information during a crisis event are often referred to as "social engineering" and can lead to longer outages and larger IT issues -- please be vigilant. For more about social engineering and other potential IT security risks, please visit the U-M Safe Computing site.
